International Competition of the “PRO PIANO-ROMANIA”
Sixteenth Edition, June 19 – 24, 2012
International Competition “PRO PIANO-ROMANIA” is open to young pianists of any nationality born after January 1, 1982 and takes place in two distinct sections: interpretation (sixteenth edition) and create music (composition) / musicology (second edition).
Regulation Section Interpretation (Piano)
The competition is divided into four sections, A, B, C and D, divided themselves into groups according to year of birth of competitors:
Section A (one step) – max. 8 ‘, born in years:
Cat 1- 2005 (and after)
Cat. 2nd – 2004
Cat. 3rd – 2003
Cat. 4th – 2002
Repertoire Section A (1 round):
a)a study;
b) a piece preclassical(baroque);
c) a classic, romantic or modern (one choice)
Section B – (2 rounds) – born in:
Cat. 1- 2001-max: 10 ‘(for stage II)
Cat. 2nd – 2000
Cat. 3rd – 1999
Cat. 4th – 1998
Cat. 5th – 1997 – Max: 15 ‘(for stage II)
Cat 6th – 1996
Cat. 7th – 1995-max: 20 ‘(for stage II)
Cat. 8th – 1994 and 1993
Repertoire Section B (2 steps):
Stage I (eliminatory):
a) a study;
b) a piece preclassical (baroque)
Stage II:
a) A classic piece: PI Sonata or Rondo (stand-alone piece), or theme with variations
b) A romantic piece, modern or Romanian (one choice)
Section C – (3 rounds) born after 1982
Repertoire:
Stage I (eliminatory):
a) Two virtuosity studies (Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Skriabin, Prokofiev)
c) J. S. Bach – Prelude and Fugue or 3 movements (parts) of the Suite or Parties
Stage II (semi-finale, eliminatory) – max. 30 ‘
a) a classical sonata (Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven)
b) a modern piece, the choice of repertoire and Romanian
Stage III (final) – maximum 30 ‘
Recital with parts different from those presented in the first two stages, to be included in the mandatory romantic piece.
Section D – 4 hands Assembly – (a stage):
Cat. 1 – born between 2004 to 2000
Cat. 2nd-born between 1999 to 1993
Cat. 3rd born between 1992 to 1982
Repertoire Section D: Details of your choice, with the following maximum length:
Cat.1 – 5 min
Cat 2nd – 10 min
Cat 3rd – 15 min
2. You can compete in two categories: the age of competition and a higher category, with different repertoires. Repertoire statement in an application for registration cannot be changed afterwards.
The order of interpretation of the pieces is to free choice of candidates. In case of exceeding the maximum set for phase II (or III) will disrupt the evolution of the jury candidate. All samples are public. The order is alphabetical in competition for each age group.
3. The deadline for entries in the contest is May 20, 2012. Between March 10 and April 27, 2012, the only way to contact or communication with the administration will be only via the e-mail (ontact by phone or fax will not be possible).
Documents necessary for registration:
• birth certificate (scanned copy)
• type entry form – complete with all required data;
• photo 4 / 5 cm, passport, in electronic format (JPEG);
• receipt proving payment of tuition(participation fee): category A – 95USD, B – 110 USD, category C – 125 USD, category D – 50 USD/ person, payable only trough Western Union (Money Transfer), to address: Stela Avesalon, Aleea Padurea Craiului 1, Bloc H3, Scara 1, Ap. 11, Sector 3, Of. Post. 57, Cod 032719, Bucharest, Romania. You can find Western Union addresses in your city par Google -Western Union. After the payement, please send us par e-mail the number of this Western Union Transfer, the name of sender and the Amounds. The contest fee is non-refundable if the participant is not showing up.
The confirmation receipt of documents and other information (possibly sending invitations) will be available either until March 10 or after May 1, 2012. Between May 1 and May 20, 2012, the registration can be made and directly to the organizers. All travel expenses, accommodation & meals expenses will be covered exclusively by the participants.
4. Awards:
* Grand Prix of International Competition “Pro Piano – Romania”
* 5 (five) prizes in each category, including the Prize of Excellence
* Special Awards
* Award for outstanding interpretation of a Romanian parts or other parts of the repertoire presented
* Prizes from sponsors
Class A participants who were not qualified for one of the prizes announced in the head. IV, and those who did not pass the next stage (categories B and C), will be given (only at their request) Diploma of participation or semifinalist or finalist respectively.
All prizes will be delivered in person at the award ceremony winners: Gala.
5. The jury will be composed of personalities of Romanian and international music.
Jury decisions are final and unassailable. For any audio-video competitors will not be required fee. Since registration for the contest, the candidates accept this Regulation and
jury authority.
