Piano Competition Rules 2011
The International Competition ” PRO PIANO-ROMÂNIA” 2011 is open to pianists of any nationality, born after January 1st, 1981 and takes place in two sections: I. Piano Performance(the 15st edition) and II. Musical Composition (first edition).
I.Rules & Regulations Piano Performance – the XVth Edition 21 – 26 iunie 2011
The contest is divided into four subdivisions, A, B, C & D, with each subdivision divided further into age :
Section A (0ne stage )
1 – born in 2004, and after 2 – born in 2003
3 – born in 2002
4 – born in 2001 Repertoire for Section A,max.8′ a) one study
b) one pre-classical piece
c) one classic, romantic or modern at choice
Section B (2 stages):
1 – born in 2000 – max: 10’(for the 2nd stage)
2 – born in 1999
3 – born in 1998
4 – born in 1997
5 – born in 1996 – max: 15’(for the 2nd stage)
6 – born in 1995
7– born in 1994 – max.20’(for the 2nd stage)
8– born in 1993 or 1992
Repertoire for Section B(2 stages): First Stage (eliminatory)
a) one study
b) one pre-classical piece (Baroque) Second Stage:
a) one classical piece (sonata, rondo orPI de Sonata, sau Rondo or Theme and Variations
b) one romantic, modern or romanian piece at choice
Section C (3 stages) born after 1981
Repertoire for Section C First Stage (eliminatory):
a) Two studies
c) J. S. Bach – Prelude and Fugue Second Stage (semifinal & eliminatory), max. 30’:
a) one classical sonata (Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven)
b) one modern piece, at choice, from the international or romanian repertoire Third Stage (final) – max. 30’:
Recital with different repertoire (not presented in the first two stages). Mandatory: one romantic piece
Section D – 4 hand performance – (o stage)
1 – born between 2003 – 2000
2– born between 1999 – 1996
3 – born between 1995 – 1991
Repertoire: Free selected pieces, with limited timing:
1 – 5’ max.
2 – 8’ max.
3- 12’ max
It’s possible to compete in two categories: the matching the competitor’s age, and the next highest one, but with a different repertoire.
The repertoire on the registration form can not be modified at a later date. The selected pieces can be played in any order. In order to follow our schedule, in case of exceeding the maximum set time, the competitor’s performance will be stopped.
All the stages of the competition are public. The entry in the competition will be in the alphabetical order, based on the age categories.
The deadline for the registration is May 15th, 2011 (mailing date)

All participants from section A that are not receiving awards, together with all participants that did not pass to the next stages, will receive,at request, a participation diploma.
Gala: winners will be personally handed the awards during the special Awards Ceremony.
Jury: will be composed of famous personalities of Romanian & international musical life.
The Jury has the right to decide not to give one, or more of the above mentioned distinctions. The jury decisions are final, and indisputable. For any audio video recording competitors will not require any fees.
By participating, all competitors agree with our rules and regulations, including the jury decisions.
