Composition Competition Rules 2011
The International Competition ” PRO PIANO-ROMÂNIA” 2011 is open to pianists of any nationality, born afterJanuary 1st, 1981 and takes place in two sections: I. Piano Performance(the 15st edition) and II. Piano Composition(first edition).

This IInd competition section is for all students (schools, high schools, colleges, universities, academies and music faculties. It has 2 subdivisions (based on age):
a) up to 19 years old b) from 19 to 30 years old The theme of the competition will vary from one year to another. For 2011, each subdivision may present 2 types of piano compositions, either for 2 or 4 hands (played on the same piano), as follows: a) light to medium difficulty compositions, for children between 5 and 12 years old, 2 or for hands (played on the same piano) and various genders, such as: lied, theme and variations, mini-suite with a theme, rondo. Each composition must be between 2-5 minutes long b) a more extensive piano composition, between 5- 15 minutes long The Mission: – To promote and stimulate youth creativity – To discover, award and promote the best musical compositions – To enrich the national/ international piano repertoire, especially for the first category Conditions for participation: each competitor may present one or more short compositions within the requested length. At the submission time, please make sure to specify the category. It is possible to register for both categories. Registration fees: 40 EURO for one entry, or 70 EURO for both options, payable only trough Western Union (Money Transfer), to address: Stela Avesalon, Aleea Padurea Craiului 1, Bloc H3, Scara 1, Ap. 11, Sector 3, Of. Rules and regulations: The composition presented in this competition must be original and unpublished. The music scores can be either handwritten (black on white), photocopied or typed, with title and motto only (no names or signatures). Registration deadline: May 15th, 2011 (postal date) Registration requirements per participant: 1. The original, unpublished composition – 3 copies, with the title and motto 2. One sealed envelope with the motto matching the one on the composition submitted for the contest. Included in the envelope should be: – The registration form with the first and last name of the competitor, the place and date of birth, the school he or she is enrolled in, complete home address, phone number and email address. – Registered/ legal photocopy of a document showing the date of birth – Brief curriculum vitae – Short presentation of the composition submitted for the contest 3. Copy of the registration fee receipt By participating to this contest, all competitors agree with our rules and regulations, including the jury decisions. Awards: at the end of the contest, the jury will award prizes (I, II, III), and Special Prizes, for each category, (total of 4 sets).
The Jury has the right to decide not to give one, or more of the above mentioned distinctions. The jury decisions are final, and indisputable. The composers awarded will be invited to participate at the Gala Concert. The date of the Gala Concert will be announced once the registration ends.
Scores awarded become property of Cultural Foundation “Pro Piano-Romania”. All scores that do not receive awards may be returned, at request.
Coverage of work awarded will be done in several ways: by publication in a special volume, mentioning prizewinners in special programs on Radio & Television. Based on the technical and interpretive level of accessibility, the awarded compositions have the chance to be learned and interpreted in recitals and auditions organized by The Foundation throughout the year.
