“Pro Piano Romania” Cultural Foundation
Established in 1996 by Stela Avesalon, the “Pro Piano Romania” Cultural Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization recognized with Public Utility Statute since 2004.
Purpose
The Foundation’s mission is to discover, promote, educate, and support talented and exceptionally gifted children and youth—the elite of musical interpreters and piano performers—to help them reach their full potential.
Projects
Before launching its most well-known initiative, the International Competition “Pro Piano Romania,” the Foundation actively participated in numerous national and international contests, earning many prestigious awards for its members. Additionally, the Foundation has organized a variety of concerts and recitals in diverse venues.
Since 1997, the annual “Pro Piano Romania” International Competition has welcomed young pianists aged 6 to 30 who demonstrate remarkable talent and are eager to evaluate their technical and artistic abilities in an international context. From its inception, the competition has been a resounding success, reaching its 15th edition in 2011 and continuing to grow. Thank you for your ongoing support!
To further serve the artistic community, the “Pro Piano Romania” Cultural Foundation has also introduced several other significant projects:
- Friends of Music / Pro Piano Romania
This initiative promotes young pianists aged 5 to 18 who are studying music, whether in government or private institutions. The program encourages these young musicians to compete and compare their achievements without the pressure of presenting a technically or artistically demanding repertoire beyond their age. By nurturing their love for music, the Foundation fosters early development and rewards their interest in the art form.- Since 2008: An affiliate program, “Music Friends,” has operated in Cluj-Napoca.
- Since 2012: A second affiliate has been established in Iași.
- Festival “Pro Piano Romania”
Open to competition laureates and other Romanian and international guests, this festival celebrates excellence in piano performance. - EMC – Excellency and Merit Center
The Excellency and Merit Center (EMC) unites young musicians aged 5 to 30, including vocalists and instrumentalists (piano, violin, winds). These artists are selected and awarded through national and international contests and are invited to participate in high-level recitals and performances both in Romania and abroad.
